Today my daughter and son-in law came over to do some labor assist. Daughter brought me more flowers and a much better moveable shower head. Son-in-law used his trusty drill to put up to brackets for hanging plants and a garden flag sized hangar, and the hung up some solar lights for me. The patio is slowly coming to rights, if you will. He also hung up a couple pieces of art and helped me deal with where to put a new surge protector that is needed. Between the two of them and apartment maintenance I have been able to let go of everything except the basic cleaning and hammering a picture nail here and there. Personalli I am liking this more and more.
On Friday, my daughter is taking me out for either lunch or dinner for Mother' day. As I'm sure I've mentioned before, as the mother and mother-in-law of restaurant management types I learned long ago that the two times I dont want to be actually in a restaurant are Mother's Day and Easter. This will be my first restaurant visit since last March which is kind of scary considering my social butterfly dining out former life style. I am more than ready, be it inside or out. That said, it will do my budget and health good to not have quite so many wine tastings and dining ins and happy hours even after the return to normal. Whatever that may be.
I actually should have gone to a real, in person meeting today but between possible appliance delivery and family visit I had to put it off. This is a monthly thing, and I will be sure to go next month, immediately before what is hopefully a nice drive to Denver to visit my son (still wavering between June and July, it probably makes more sense to escape July heat for awhile). But I'm planning a drive either tomorrow or Wednesday to see either Blue Bonnets or lavender fields. One that will including outdoor or patio eating and walking among the people. And in an effort to change up the walking I'm getting in my care and driving different places to town to walk, and have decided that yes, I am ready to sit and have a drink after or during my walk (and use the bathrooms as well).
I have been pretty active in my city and neighborhood pages especially as the new person arriving during a pandemic. One of the gals I have met is a realtor and she has offered me up a washer and dryer from one of her clients who is moving and does not want to take it or have to try and sell it. Asked if I wanted it, I said a hugh "Yes, thank you". The dryer is now installed and just needing an exhaust clamp and the washer will be coming in the next few days. My budget and my laundry are thrilled with this one.
The wood I wanted to attempt some outdoor and indoor projects has arrived (for small peace type poles to go in a flower pot, a summer sunflower project I want to make for my patio wall and other odds and ends). I also so found this little wall "sculpture" on Etsy (via Pinterest, so it qualifies for my Pinterest challenge) looked at my wall, and said "I can do this". My version will be different quilt blocks but in modern colors and uneven and I've been working on it while watching Silent Witness and The Expanse. Definitely not my area of expertise in the creative word but that has never stopped me to date. Or maybe I'll just splash paint on each wood square and call it something else.
First, I need to finish with all my patriotic fabric and that modern quilt. There is no rush, and I craft at my leisure which is more slowly than surely. But I did just order a credit card scanner. Which must mean I'm at least semi serious. Which must mean I need to actually have a few things up on that Facebook page for people to see (and perhaps buy).
Finally, I still struggle with the cooking for one thing. I don't remember it being this difficult before, but that may be because I had a large grill and was happy to order in multiple times a week. I think I am mainly resolved (at least for the summer) to buying packages of pork chops and chicken breasts and mini steaks and such and just keeping a bunch of sides on hand, alone with a big slow cooker meal.
It may be time for me to try out that new shower head now. After my chicken and salad and vegetables and very possibly strawberry short cake. Because biscuits. And strawberries. And whipped cream. At least there's fruit there, unlike the oven made smores.
