Thankful Thursday

I hope all of the American readers have a lovely Thanksgiving no matter where where you are, be it with family or alone! I will be leaving my little pod and driving  fifteen minutes to the secondary bubble that is daughter and son-in-law's home. Since we are only three this year, daughter said she convinced SIL to settle for one pie and one kind of stuffing, lol.

1.  I am thankful for family near and far, and that due to happenstance I am able to spend time with at least part of mine. If I had not had to stay with daughter because of no furniture for a week and a half, I'm unsure where we would be on our interaction now, and emotionally I need to be with some people at least occasionally. So in theory I guess small thanks is due to the ever loving moving company that shall not be spoken of again!

2.  The new Covid vaccine may be a repeat on this list, but I continue to be thankful for that even though I know there will be side effects and a slow run out. Both my kids are essential workers and one is also an asthmatic so I expect both to see the shot long before I do. Having said that when the time comes, I personally will happily offer my arm up for the cause and my own well being.

3. Thankful that while the current president seems to be in complete dential, other Republicans and the courts are doing their jobs and moving forward as required. Also thankful that now transition is in play, action is being taken on Covid and other fronts as the orange one seems to have completely stepped aside when it comes to presidential responsibities.

4. Thankful that I undertook this move when I did, and thankful for my new apartment. Even during lockdown, I am enjoying and appreciating living alone, which was a tad worrying to me when I was in the process of doing so. I am enjoying keeping myself busy or not and controlling my own destiny, if you will.

5. Thankful for enough. More than enough actually. Enough to do, enough to help others, more than enough for myself in pretty much every area.

6. Thankful that today I will get my dog fix, and my daughter is fostering a dog and caring for two over the Thanksgiving holiday so there will be five dogs for me to cuddle today (as an aside, I am considering getting a very senior dog that doesn't have to be walked much as a foster post holiday. Realizing all that means in terms of emotion).

7. Thankful that for all my friends and that they mainly seem to be doing okay. And Especially thankful that a friend who lives on an island on the Louisiana coast has somehow, to date, manage to avoid everything except some small wind and rain damage.

8. While I'm ready for this time to end, and it has gone on longer than I expected, I am in many ways grateful that the world, in general, slowed down for awhile and allowed many of us to reassess how we will move forward.

9. And while I could list so many more things, I am finally glad or the baked and frozen muffins of which I took two out to thaw last night. Because I went to bed late, slept late, blogged and am now starving and I don't have to cook a thing (I am normally a cooked breakfast girl).

As a friend would say, thankful people are happy people.

  4. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving day at your daughter & SIL's place. I think that's a great idea of getting a senior dog. I am down to two dogs now... 15-1/2 years old and 8 years old. As my dogs age out, I will not get another until both are gone and then I think I will also get a senior dog as they are so grateful for whatever love, time and comfort you can give to them... and vice versa:)

  7. What a wonderful list of thankfulness. We all need to be thankful for what we have way more than we are.

    God bless.

  8. I'll be even more thankful when we have the vaccine too. My nephew is also a nurse in the ER here so I'll be glad when he's vaccinated. I'm also waiting impatiently for January 20th. Unfortunately 70% of the Republicans still believe the election was a fraud. It's really scary for our country,
