Monday Musings

I've now entered that period better known as football withdrawal time. The games are over, big and small, pro and amateur. I've said good bye for another six months (possibly longer as I consider pre-season to be an abomination. No longer will a portion of my weekend days (and occasional evenings) be spent following favorite teams or yelling at referees. With the occasional exception of a really good  European soccer match my sports watching is mainly finished until we get close to the end of college basketball season.

Which should leave even more time for reading, sewing, quiet Sunday time and other stuff.

Things I'm doing, did, and am thinking about.

1. When I return from my ten day trip to Texas, my gals group is having a "Let's drink wine and talk travel" afternoon at the request of some of the women (married and single). The short term goal is long one day trips, but we are also looking at one and two overnight type trips and maybe even a train trip to Chicago. A new way to see how we get along, save money by combining costs and just generally build community among a bunch of fairly wacky, irreverent women.

2. Another friend is having a tea at her home on Sunday. She's providing the teas and all of the attendees are bringing high tea type food. I love this and wish I would have thought of it (although my downsized home would not be conducive). It'll be cheaper, more creative and more fun than the traditional fifty dollar high tea-and more relaxed as well. I'm thinking mini heart sugar cookies with gaze and decor but I have not gotten there yet.

3. While I don't love the barometric and temperature changes and I'm ready for a land with minimal winter if any at all, I am enjoying sitting in my chair doing paperwork and blogging and reading while nestled under a big blanket and with a dog near by. Heck, I may eve find time to visit some blogs I haven't checked in with in awhile. Which I can do because my son who is at work is willing to stop and get me stuff from Kroger click list to keep me happy.  That said, it's twenty degrees in Denver and 67 in Dallas. No contest my friends, no contest. At least I finished my taxes and did some other paperwork stuff I had been avoiding.

4. As part of that trimming the budget thing,  I joined in with some others agreeing no spending on clothing for February and March. With the exception of accessories, which can only be purchased used at thrift, consignment and second hand stores. Now let's hope my exercise bathing suit lasts that long!

5. While I was watching the Superbowl and half time show I was also perusing the Sunday paper for the best sellers locally and nationally and checking out the website fantasticfiction.com to see what new books were out and interesting (multitasking people, multi tasking). I now have a reserve list twenty three books at the library. Hopefully that will keep me busy with free books and stop me from being tempted to buy something new online at Amazon. I should do something similar to my Netflix and Amazon watch lists, although the savings won't be the same.

I do believe it's time to have that tea or hot chocolate, start a new book, and call it good at three in the afternoon. In fact, tonight I think I'm pulling out that emergency Lasagna in the freezer and the garlic bread right next to it. Because if there was ever a no cook day, today is it.

    3. After having a persistent cough for over a year, I was diagnosed with COPD
in March 2015. In 2016 my COPD got worse to the point where not only do I
have trouble sleeping at night, I also struggle to get air into my lungs. I
read in a health forum of a herbal centre (Traditional Herbal Healing
Centre) who have successful treatment to COPD/Emphysema, i immediately
contacted the herbal centre via their website and purchased the COPD herbal
remedy, I used the remedy for 2 weeks, all my symptoms were reversed, i did
another test for confirmation, i was declared COPD free. email (

    4. Do anyone still doubt natural herbs? I’ve seen the great importance of natural supplements and the wonderful work Dr Edidia has done in my husband life.I was looking for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD treatments for my husband who was 72yrs old, my husband has COPD and cancer, his condition was very critical which i was very afraid that will not survive it.His white blood count was very low right now and his doctors are planning on starting some chemo or other treatment soon.. I don't believe he will last long if he does this.. His COPD  is getting worse even though he hasn't smoked in 30 years. so i decided to come online to see if there will be better alternative, during my research i saw a lady post about doctor Dr Edidia  who has power over deadly disease, so i decided to contact him because i really do not care about what my husband was talking in all i want for him is for him to get well for me because he was all i have, my husband took the remedies that he send to us through UPS  as he told us and few weeks later my husband stop to notice that symptoms of his disease are begging to leave him so he went back to his Doctor and he was told he no longer has those diseases.
My husband is totally free of COPD and cancer if not for doctor Edidia who help us rid this problem there is a possibility that my husband wouldn't be alive today.

  4. An afternoon for "Let's drink wine and talk travel"? What a great idea! A new book ... "American Dirt" by Jeanine Cummins. A gotta read novel about a middle-class woman from Mexico forced to join the refugee train.

  5. I'm with Tom, though I'd have a beer instead of wine. But the travel topic would be a wonderful idea. As Jackie has said, it's wonderful to have a like minded group.

  10. Hi Barb, I would love to read details about how you created and grew the gals group! Maybe you would consider doing a "Step By Step How To Create And Grow A Gals Group" blog post!? Maybe you could discuss how you did it in Denver and how you plan to do it in Dallas. What worked, what didn't, what are some of the blockers, how many gals, etc.

Love your blog, have been following for years. So helpful and inspiring to read how you create your life.

    Thank you and Best wishes,
    T

  13. Love all these comments. It takes a bit of effort to find new potential friends after we stop being employed. Another blogger started a group of "gathering girls" who meet monthly. It's just fun to have fun!

    1. A.W. We meet bi-monthly not monthly, and yes we do have a lot of fun. We just aren't as adventurous as Barb on going to new places as her group. We are a little older, I think, and so driving and money are more limited.

Powerful Herbal treatment is 100% guarantee for HSV cure, the reason why most people are finding it difficult to cure HSV 1 or 2 is because they believe on medical report, drugs and medical treatments which is not helpful to cure HSV and hasn't proved any sign of helping. Natural roots/herbs are the best remedy which can easily eradicate herpes forever. I never believed it until I was helped and cured of my 16 months genital herpes with natural herbal medicines from Dr Larry. Where other medical prescribed drugs and treatments failed, Dr Larry’s natural herbs helped saved me from Genital herpes permanently and I’m so grateful for this.
