Hiatus

In two weeks exactly it will be Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. As part of my spiratual practices I generally add something during this period, usually additional prayer and contemplation or service.

I occasionally add a practice that involves eliminating something or giving something up. This year, that happens to be technology, as much as is reasonably possible with my spread out family and obligations. Especially in the area of social media. I'm withdrawing from everything but my family on Facebook and unfollowing various social groups and forms. I'm not going to be on Instagram.

I also will not be blogging during this time.

Now yes, I do realize that's a couple weeks away. But I have some driving and some visiting to do and I may be entering a contemplation period.

Which is my way of saying that I have no planned blogging going on until Easter. I might post something really interesting from Texas I suppose. You never know and I am spontaneous, mostly. But other than that I plan to post the occasional  to rare photo and comment on Facebook and be absent otherwise.

Unless there is something of import in Texas, you will see me with that occasional FB comment or in the spring.

  1. Nice! I used to give up something for Lent, but lately I have tried restructuring some facet of my life.

  5. Are you moving during those two months or just visiting Texas again? I hope it all goes well. Silence is golden sometimes.

  9. I am not sure what I will be doing for Lent this year. I do know part of it will be helping lead the Bible study (of which I will be missing the first one), and perhaps attending one or two adoration times or even attending a daily Mass once a week.

    God bless.

  10. Yes, we all need to focus on what's important in our lives, and if that means more spirituality and less social media, that's all to the good. Nevertheless ... we'll look forward to your return in April.
