Cooking: I've finished a batch of the brown sugar shortbread cookies, and probably won't bake any more until the weekend, when I make two other types (when people are gone and I have the kitchen to myself, if you will). Tomorrow I'm doing the cooking, along with someone else for the Family Promise group previously mentioned. She is doing pulled pork sliders and I am making these gems. We're adding cookies and bars, salad, salsa and chips, and a plate of cut veggies and dip-and perhaps cut up fruit as well.

Working on: I 've gotten out my big calendar with the squares and am working on filling in all dates for future events that I know of, birthdays and possible travel dates, so that I can make a rough plan and list of goals for the new year. It's done in pencil and lot's of things are roughed in at best. The calendar and my stream of consciousness list of things I want to do, places I want to go, and goals and stuff will hopefully come together to make my 2019 plan, or as big of a plan as this non planner can make!
Reading: I downloaded the new Michal Connelly thriller and was less than thrilled. Not in love with the new character as such, and don't think Bosch needs one, but that's just me. On the other hand I loved the new John Sanders Virgil Flowers novel. I'm now trying to decide what to read next from my long list of what to read. Perhaps a non fiction book for a brief change?

The sliders look delicious. I made the key lime shortbread cookies that you mentioned in an earlier blog. They are so-o-o good.

DeleteA quick update on UK TV - currently watching Mrs Wilson _ a drama based on a true story, the lead actress is playing her own grandmother. Highly recommend it - won't say too much because I don't want to give the game away. Also a period drama set in Ireland called Death and Nightingales - quite dark but well acted.

DeleteI am reading Jodi Picoult's "The Tenth Circle". I'm listening to Christmas albums and that started the last week in Nov after a discussion about favorite Christmas tunes. I'm watching The Voice and enjoying The Island Diaries, a travel documentary. The first batch of antipasto is jarred; the lemoncello cookies & toffee tarts are in the freezer and the sugar cookie dough will be made today, one batch for the cookie Christmas tree and one for cut outs for the granddaughters to decorate. I'm happy to have a week of hosting house guests in the books and most of snow shovelling completed until next time. I'm looking forward to a lunch with the klatch next week. Each recipe I use brings to mind memories of the people that gave them to me. I'm grateful for all those connections and memories.

DeleteLove the yarn color and looking forward to seeing a photo of the finished project. I just finished a quilted table runner. Only my second quilting project, and I did binding for the first time. Didn't quilt it, but did everything else. I'm pretty proud of it.
ReplyDeleteSo who's the new character in the Bosch book? The woman he was trying to detox? Did you finish watching The Bodyguard on Netflix? I really enjoyed it--the last episode was a nail biter.

Sheila, there was a book before, I dont even remember the title, that introduced a woman cop stuck on the graveyard shipf because of harrassment. In this one, she and Bosch work together.
