It's a New (and Happy) Day!

It's done!! We have a new president and first lady, a history making vice president (in more ways than one), and hopefully a changing wind.

I was happy to see pretty much all the executive actions done today!  I still hope for a better one when it comes to student loans (I actually think cancelling interest on the first 50 thousand would be as effective at least as cancelling said loans).  I know our friends to the north are upset at the cancellation of the pipeline but this is not their climate and park and indian homelands being affected.

Overall I am glad to see that there is an immediate vision and that at least one cabinet member has been approved.

It has to be said, it was a sight for sore eyes to see so many former living presidents both there, and obviously enjoying each other's company. Meanwhile of course, the sour grapes guy was leaving fast as he could.

Hopefully the Qanon types will fall back into the woodwork now that there was no intervention, no martial law and life as we know it goes on.

Onward and forward, and tomorrow is a new day!

  1. There's been a report just breaking that on Jan 6th when the Pentagon first denied the National Guard to go to the Capital building the brother of Michael Flynn, a general, was in the room when the call for help was denied. This was AFTER the Capital had been breached and shots were fired. He also has a connection to Qanon. It's going to get messy before our country gets better.

  4. I'm not sure if you heard it, but there was a giant sigh of relief from this side of the border. I will tell you, as a Canadian, not all of us are upset about the cancellation of the pipeline. While we are reliant on O&G to heat our homes and fuel our vehicles, we must the transition away from fossil fuels. This is a wake-up call for those politicians who continue to bury their heads in the sand.

    Take care, stay well!

  5. I not only cried yesterday, I sobbed. And then again this morning when I rewatched the closing song by Katy Perry accompanied by fireworks. That's how awful the last four and a half years have been. May I never know anything like them again in my lifetime.

I don't expect kumbaya going forward, but I do expect dialogue, including disagreement, to be based on FACTS. Not lies. Facts!

  6. I will confess that I shed a few tears yesterday. It was so wonderful to sense that there was reverence for how our government rules and the foundation of our country. When I heard Pres. Biden say, "crying may endure for a season, but joy cometh in the morning," I thought, "Amen!"

  7. I for one was absolutely thrilled when our President revoked the Pipeline permits. In my opinion that pipeline was illegal, immoral and completely uncalled for.
The inauguration was heartwarming and so very welcome.
There is work to be done and it's time to look forward!

  9. I don't think this will be the last of the idiots, err Qanon idiots but a gal can hope! Same with the fat orange one. Evil just doesn't tuck it's tail and go away now does it?
Yesterday there were moments when both my husband I cried. I loved the video of Pres. Clinton, Pres Bush and Pres.Obama all speaking together about the day. Here's to listening to science and ridding ourselves of this virius and getting America on track again.

  10. I hadn't realized the QAnon types expected mass arrests at the inauguration yesterday, with Trump appearing from stage left to accept his role as savior of us all. At least some of what I read quoted QAnon people as feeling duped and potentially lied to. You think?

It is a new day, a new beginning, and an exciting time to watch all the evil, stupid, and hateful stuff flushed down the toilet of history.

  11. I doubt that the Qanon types are going to back down, especially after Trump gets his Patriot party going. But, I breathed a sigh of relief when Biden was sworn in.

    1. Me too. I was just grateful for a calm day. How sad is that?

  12. Many Canadians support the decision to halt the pipeline. Climate change is real everywhere. We experience wildfires, heat waves, and severe storms. Most worrisome is the rapid melt of the Artic icecap. Our grandchildren will be thankful for this decision.

  13. Getting away from fossil fuels is going to be costly for most people, but it's easy for the well-to-do boomers to preeechh.

    1. Hmm. You obviously don't actually READ my blog or you would know that I live on an extreme fixed income rather than being well do do..and that all of my hard working not well do do children are much more in favor of these acts than I. If you wish to continue to be approved I suggest you fully read for comprehension first?
